About

Hi! Welcome to Inkhorn Books – a place to celebrate creativity and trying new things. My name is Amy Fettig and I am a lifelong writer who just took the leap to becoming an author. My first picture book, Splot the Blot is complete and I hope to continue sharing my work and supporting local authors as I navigate the world of self-publishing and librarianship. I love finding ways to encourage learning in all ages and after spending several years as an educator in the classroom I am now working as a public librarian in Minnesota.

Given my career, it’s no surprise I am a fan of novels (and novelty). I’ve always enjoyed exploring imaginative stories alongside the challenge of trying something new. Whether I’m plotting out a tale, raising a flock of chickens, teaching computer science, or discovering the path to self publishing – I thrive on solving problems and bringing a sense of wonder to the journey.

I was inspired to become a picture book author through my work facilitating early literacy programming at the library as well as an appreciation of the importance of learning to read at a young age. As a second grade teacher, my mother spent countless hours teaching my sister and I phonics before kindergarten and my father tucked us in each night with storybook tales of adventuring animals. I drifted off each night dreaming of fictional characters, incredible new worlds, and mysteries to uncover. Wherever this creative journey takes me, I hope to continue reading and writing fantastical tales for years to come.

Words are… our most inexhaustible source of magic.
